MŠK Žilina knocked out of UEFA tournament
The last representative of Slovakia was knocked out of contention for the 1999 Union of European Football Association Intertoto Cup Championship when MŠK Žilina was defeated by French FC Metz 3 - 0 in France.
MŠK Žilina was unable to defend the 2 - 1 advantage they had secured from the first match with the French squad after penalties forced them to play the last 35 minutes with only nine players. The French squad scored their goals in the 59th, 82nd and 84th minutes.
