THE CABINET appointee for expatriate Slovaks, Claude Baláž, whose name appears in the Bratislava files of the Communist secret police (ŠtB), tendered his resignation March 23, the SITA new wire reported.
"For a very short time, from March to December 1989, the ŠtB registered me without my approval and without me knowing about it," said Baláž.
He was registered under the codename "Deos".
Baláž, who was appointed to his post in 1999, intends to defend his reputation in court after he has examined the file.
