Parliament yesterday approved an amendment to the Telecom Law requiring incumbent provider Slovak Telecom to unbundle local loops as of January 1, 2003, effectively ending the firm’s monopoly. The change will allow alternative providers of data and Internet services to rent ST’s lines and offer cheaper prices to customers.
