THE FORMER chairman of the Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ), Jozef Stahl, has appealed for a ruling on his case to the Constitutional Court. Stahl believes his rights were breached when the Slovak parliament chose to replace him, the SITA news agency wrote December 13.

Stahl argues that he was forced to leave his post prematurely, even though he served the five years for which he was elected.

During his time in office, however, parliament changed the duration of service for the post to seven years. Stahl therefore believes that he should remain in his post for another two years, but parliament elected a new NKÚ chairman, Ján Jasovský on December 7.
