JOZEF Stahl, will stay on as chairman of the Supreme Control Office (NKÚ) until the Constitutional Court resolves a dispute over his length of service.
The Constitutional Court yesterday decided that it would deal with a complaint submitted by Stahl, in which he insisted his term in office was seven years and not five, according to the daily SME.
When he was elected to the post, the term of office was for just five years, but a law increasing this time to seven years has since been introduced.
Parliament recently elected new NKÚ top officials including a new chairman, Ján Jasovský. Stahl insists, however, that his term of office should continue for another two years.
The Constitutional Court will issue its verdict on Stahl’s case within one month, SME wrote.
