THE STATE guarantees for the debts of companies will drop to Sk44.8 billion (€1.15 billion) at the end of this year, while in 2002 they represented as much as Sk102.6 billion (€2.6 billion), the daily SME reported.
According to the Finance Ministry, the state will only guarantee the debts of nine companies. Most of the money guaranteed will account for the debts of the railway company Železnice SR, waterworks construction firm Vodohospodárska výstabva, and Slovak power producer Slovesnké elektrárne.
