On February 26, the Sme daily pointed out that the National Highway

Company (NDS) will pay Sk60 million for a geological survey to a company that was approached directly rather than selected through a tender.

The NDS defended itself by saying the selection was in line with the law and that a lack of time was the most important factor in how it was made.

The daily reminded its readers of a similar case in which the Transport Ministry did not use a tender to replace its adviser for public-private partnership (PPP) projects on highway and dual-carriageway construction, allegedly for the same reason. SITA
