THE DEBT of the pubic broadcaster Slovak Radio (SRo), which is currently at around Sk300 million, will probably be partially or fully covered from the state budget.

New SRo Director Miloslava Zemková is negotiating with Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš on the issue, the SME daily wrote. No concrete solution has yet been agreed on.

Zemková confirmed that the radio was in bad financial shape and had no money to cover its debts. According to the Hospodárske noviny daily, she is planning to fire 180 employees by the end of the year, which should save SRo some Sk67 million.
