HACKERS attacked the websites administered by the Statistics Office (ŠÚ) on November 15 during publishing of the unofficial election results. The ŠÚ announced submitting a criminal complaint.
“The first attack of hackers started shortly after 21:00 and was eliminated after 20 minutes,” said Ľudmila Benkovičová, head of the ŠÚ, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “We noticed the second attack, which was more massive and was, according to our information, really dangerous, from 23:00 to about 23:20.”
The attack resulted in slowing down the website and long loading of results.
“The processing of results was not endangered,” Benkovičová stressed, as quoted by TASR.
She added that the security measures adopted by the ŠÚ proved to be effective.
