Year-on-year inflation in Slovakia reached 3.4 percent in November, with core inflation standing at 3.1 percent and net inflation at 2.5 percent, Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced on Wednesday, December 12.
While overall inflation in November was influenced by both core inflation and indirect taxes by 0.02 percentage points respectively, regulated prices had no effect on overall inflation when compared to the figures recorded in October. The effect of food prices on core inflation accounted for 0.02 percentage points, and the effect of net inflation on core inflation amounted to 0.01 percentage points.
Meanwhile, consumer prices in November stayed put compared to the figures from October, the TASR newswire reported, citing the ŠÚ. In addition, prices remained unchanged in the following sectors: housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; health care; postal services and telecoms; education; and hotels, cafes and restaurants. Conversely, on a monthly basis, consumer prices saw increases in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.05 percent), in clothing and footwear, in recreation and culture, in miscellaneous goods and services (all by 0.3 percent), in food and non-alcoholic beverages, in furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance (all by 0.2 percent).
During the January-November 2012 period, consumer prices rose by 3.7 percent on average compared to the same period in 2011. EU-harmonised inflation, measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, in households of employees and in households of pensioners in November was unchanged when compared to October. EU-harmonised inflation in November in households of employees rose by 3.3 percent year-on-year, and in households of pensioners by 3.5 percent. During the January-November 2012 period, EU-harmonised prices were up by 3.6 percent on average in the case of households of the employed, and by 3.8 percent on average for households of the retired when compared to the same period in 2011.
