Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda’s rejection of an amended Hungarian status law has angered the SMK ethnic Hungarian party, which says the amendment had been agreed between ruling coalition partners Dzurinda and Béla Bugár of the SMK.
The amendment proposed to Budapest to a controversial 2001 law giving ethnic Hungarians in surrounding countries special advantages had been expected to be agreed by Slovakia and passed in the Hungarian parliament in December.
