THE SUMMER production break in the Trnava-based car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroën will last a week longer this year.
The assembly lines will be switched off on Monday, August 2, for a period of three weeks, company spokesman Peter Švec said. There is no special reason for the production halt, he said, explaining that his year it is necessary for the kind of equipment maintenance which is inevitable in this kind of production but cannot be carried out during normal working shifts. All employees will be on vacation during the maintenance except for security guards and maintenance staff, the SITA newswire wrote.
PSA Peugeot Citroën in Trnava is the PSA group’s most modern plant in terms of technology. Last year it produced 203,732 vehicles, the highest number of the three carmakers in Slovakia. The plant manufactures two types of cars, the Peugeot 207 and the Citroën C3 Picasso. Serial production of the Peugeot 207 was launched in June 2006 and production of the Citroën C3 Picasso, manufactured exclusively in Slovakia, started last year.
