Support for pupils

Font size: A - | A +

THE LABOUR Ministry has introduced a new plan for the support of children from low-income families in kindergartens and elementary schools.

Through cooperation with schools, the ministry wants to contribute Sk1,000 (€25) per year for school equipment for the children and to another Sk400 (€10) per month for their food. Monthly food expenses in schools are Sk420 to Sk500. Parents would thus only have to pay the remaining sum, the Slovak daily SME wrote.

Schools welcomed the plan, which the ministry wants to launch in May.

The ministry will pay the support directly to schools and kindergartens based on requests submitted by school administrators in towns and cities.
