Supreme Court confirms Sendrei killing verdicts

A panel of judges of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic has rejected appeals submitted by the accused and the prosecution alike in the case of the Sendrei family, the SITA newswire wrote.

A panel of judges of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic has rejected appeals submitted by the accused and the prosecution alike in the case of the Sendrei family, the SITA newswire wrote.

Eight years ago, six former policemen beat and tortured two sons and the father of the Sendreis, a Roma family; the father later died at a police station after being chained to a radiator overnight.

In its verdict the Supreme Court confirmed the original trial verdict, sending those convicted to prison for a period of 18 months to 8.5 years for their participation in the beating.
