The average Slovak spends €144 per month on entertainment in the summer, which is twice as much as at other times of the year, a Prima Bank survey released on Wednesday, August 15 has revealed.

At the same time, the number of people who usually refrain from entertainment and do not spend anything decreases in the summer, the TASR newswire quoted the survey. Only 8 percent of people spend nothing on entertainment at this time of year, while the figure stands at 13 percent in other seasons. Around 27 percent of Slovaks think that it is enough to spend €50 per month on entertainment in the summer, while in other months the figure reaches as high as 50 percent. Conversely, 39 percent of Slovaks spend more than €100 per month, while some even said that they spend more than €1,000 per month. One important point to stress is that these figures do not include expenditures related to summer holidays. Among the kinds of entertainment that consume the most money are sports - 26 percent, time spent with friends in bars, cafes or night clubs - 14 percent, and short trips - 11 percent. Other activities include swimming, cultural events and music festivals. All the aforementioned figures concern this summer. As many as 40 percent of the respondents said that they have been more frugal this year.
