A 37-year-old man was arrested in the Bratislava borough of Petržalka on Tuesday, January 29, on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons and trafficking in arms, the TASR newswire reported, citing Bratislava regional police spokesman František Peczár.
A police patrol spotted the man sitting in his car, which was parked in a spot reserved for the owner of another car, shortly after noon. Items resembling explosives were subsequently found during an inspection of the car's interior, whereupon a police specialist was called to the scene. The bomb-disposal expert’s preliminary conclusion was that the items were military-type weapons, said Peczár. As this gave rise to suspicions that a crime had been committed, the driver was arrested and is currently being interrogated.
