Three defendants, two men and a woman, charged with the double murder of reporter Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová, remain in pre-trial custody. The Supreme Court panel rejected their appeals against custody on October 9, the Sme daily wrote.

The result of their decision-making process was confirmed by the SC spokesperson, Alexandra Važanová.
In this case, three judges on the SC 4T panel have ruled: Pavol Farkaš, Štefan Harabin and Patrik Príbelský. Their panel rejected the appeal against custody as unfounded.

“The panel believes that the reasons for custody as stated by the judge in preparatory process are still current,” Važanová explained.
What is the case about?
Originally, the Specialised Criminal court ordered the pre-trial custody for the four people charged with this murder, but three have appealed: the alleged hitman Tomáš Sz., alleged driver Miroslava M., and the woman who allegedly ordered the killing, Alena Z.

The fourth accused, the go-between Zoltán A., did not file any appeal. He is the only one to have started the cooperation with police and according to highly publicised information, he allegedly accused businessman Marian Kočner of being the true ordering party in the murder case, Sme wrote.
