SWEDEN will take a final decision concerning the imposition of temporary limits on the free movement of workers for new European Union members on April 28, Chairman of Swedish Parliament Bjorn von Sydow told his Slovak counterpart Pavol Hrušovský.
The Swedish cabinet is proposing a two-year transition period but the Swedish Parliament will make the final decision.
Hrušovský assured his Swedish colleague that there was no reason to fear a massive influx of labour from Slovakia to Sweden.
Rather, Slovakia is worried about the loss of young educated Slovaks to other countries.
"However, we support the free movement of labour. I assume these arguments are adequate and the Swedish parliament will consider them and will not impose this measure against Slovakia," Hrušovský said.
