THE FINNISH and Swedish prime ministers opened their countries' embassies at a ceremony attended by Slovak officials, lawmakers, and diplomats on May 10, the news wire TASR wrote.
Finland's PM, Matti Vanhaven, said that the embassy would create new opportunities for the further development of mutual relations.
"I am confident that Slovakia's entry to the European Union boosts the appeal of this country to Finnish investors," he said.
Both offices are based at the new administrative centre Diplomat.
Sweden's PM, Goran Persson, congratulated Slovakia on joining the EU and praised the design of the building that houses the embassies, saying it draws on the architectural styles of Scandinavian countries.
"This joint mission is a signal of Nordic cooperation within the framework of the EU," he said.
Slovak Premier Mikuláš Dzurinda said the new embassies would further three-way political, cultural, and economic cooperation.
