Swedish firm attempts to buy bus companies

SWEDISH company Connex, one of the biggest European transportation firms, is trying to gain control of several of the Slovak SAD bus companies.

After the failure of Connex in the privatization of SAD companies in Bratislava, Košice, and Žilina three years ago, the Swedish firm is now trying to gain SADs by buying them from the firms that did succeed in buying them in the privatization process, the Pravda daily reported.

Connex has already managed to buy the Nitra SAD company.

In total 17 SAD firms operate in Slovakia, providing 95 percent of the public transportation services.
