Switzerland to give Slovakia Sk1.6 billion

IN THE NEXT five years Slovakia will receive Sk1.6 billion from Switzerland as part of that country's assistance to new EU member states.

Switzerland will provide a total of 1 billion Swiss francs to the EU's 10 new members. The EU and Switzerland are to sign a memorandum on the deal next Monday, the SME daily wrote.

The money will go primarily to finance public administration reform, environmental projects, infrastructure, and human resources. Switzerland is providing the money in return for its membership in the European economic area.
