Taiwanese LCD-screen maker AU Optronics may invest in Slovakia

A new LCD-screen manufacturer may land its investment in Slovakia.

A new LCD-screen manufacturer may land its investment in Slovakia.

The Taiwanese company AU Optronics informed the SITA newswire of its intention to set up an LCD-screen production plant somewhere in Europe. Yawen Hsiao of the company's corporate communications department mentioned the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia as possible locations.

The plans of the Taiwanese company will become more concrete in the second quarter of this year.

Jana Murínová, spokeswoman of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), confirmed for SITA that AU Optronics has shown interest in Slovakia.

The representatives of Taiwan's biggest and the world's leading TFT-LCD TV panel producer visited Slovakia last October on a business mission as one of twelve Taiwan-based companies.
