THE PEOPLE of the High Tatras are calling on Slovaks to lend their help to the region by spending their holidays there following the catastrophic winds of November 19, the daily SME wrote.
Several tourist centres were badly hit by the strong winds. One of the most badly affected was Tatranská Lomnica, while Štrbské Pleso escaped the worst of the winds.
The Slovak Army has sent troops to the Tatras to help and at least 100 unemployed people rushed to help in the rescue efforts.
