The Economy Ministry and Slovakia’s National Property Fund (FNM), the country’s privatisation agency and owner of shares in several partially-owned state companies, will begin talks with Energetický a Průmyslový Holding (EPH) company over a taking a stake in ownership of Slovenský Plynárenský Priemysel (SPP), Slovakia’s primary gas utility. The issue is to be discussed by the government at its next session, the TASR newswire reported on June 18.
SPP currently has two shareholders: FNM which owns 51 percent and Slovak Gas Holding, controlled by two foreign investors, German E.ON Ruhrgas and French company GDF Suez, with 49 percent of the shares.
The opening of talks means that EPH, controlled by the PPF Group owned by Petr Kellner, Daniel Křetínský and the J&T financial group, may become a SPP co-owner and the state’s partner in the utility, TASR wrote.
