The average nominal monthly salary of employees in the telecommunications sector over the first seven months of 2007 was Sk49,787 (€1,476), according to preliminary data reported by the Slovak Statistics Office on September 10.
For the same period, monthly salaries in real estate, rentals, business activities and other services reached Sk21,742. Other monthly salaries were: in industry - Sk19,869, in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - Sk19,324, in transport - Sk19,255, in wholesale - Sk18,534, in construction - Sk14,989, in postal services - Sk14,974, and in retail - Sk13,307. Employees in hotels and restaurants earned the lowest salaries - Sk10,444.
Compared to the corresponding period last year, average nominal salaries increased in telecommunications by 27.4 percent. Other y-o-y increases were: in real estate, rentals, business activities and other services - 9.3 percent, in transport - 7.6 percent, in construction - 7.5 percent, in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - 7.4 percent, in retail - 7.1 percent, in industry - 7 percent, in postal services - 4.9 percent, in wholesale - 4.7 percent, and in hotels and restaurants - 2 percent.
