TESCO has opened a new distribution warehouse in Beckov, northern Slovakia. It will store long-life groceries as well as industrial and textile goods there. The warehouse will not only supply Slovakia but also surrounding countries when necessary, the SITA news agency reported.
The warehouse, officially opened on May 18, now employs 158 people. "At maximum operation with its own trucks, the distribution centre will employ 600 people," said Frantisek Wagner, director of the centre.
"The first shipments of goods from Slovak suppliers will arrive at the warehouse on June 6," said Wagner. The warehouse will be fully functional on June 20.
The number of commodity units stored and distributed will reach 40,000 once the unit is fully operational.
