Five members of a gang suspected of a conspiracy aimed to smuggle cocaine through an international network were extradited from Thailand to the US November 19. The group is comprised of five men, including one Slovak, named as Adrian V.
Head of the Thai police Somyot Pumpanmuang informed that one Slovak, one Philippines citizen, one Thai and two British citizens were escorted to the airport in Bangkok by representatives of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He also said, according to the TASR newswire, that the five men are accomplices of the head of the alleged criminal network, Joseph Hunter, 48, who was detained in September on the Thai island of Phuket. Hunter, former US soldier, allegedly oversaw an organisation of professional murderers and after being extradited from Thailand, he was charged on New York of conspiracy targeted at killing a DEA agent and drug related crimes.
Adrian V., nicknamed Alex, has also a warrant pending in Slovakia, but he has not been sought through an international warrant. He was prosecuted for blackmail and for limiting personal freedom in 1999. He was detained about a month ago on Phuket. Adrian V. is said to have left Slovakia in 1990s, spent time in the French foreign legion, and then married a Thai citizen. He is said to have split his time between Thailand and Cambodia, using a Belgian passport.
