The annual inflation rate decreased by 0.1 percent in September

THE ANNUAL inflation rate decreased by 0.1 percent in September; core inflation has not changed while net inflation increased by 0.4 percent, the Statistics Office informed on October 13.

THE ANNUAL inflation rate decreased by 0.1 percent in September; core inflation has not changed while net inflation increased by 0.4 percent, the Statistics Office informed on October 13.

In comparison with August core inflation affected headline inflation negatively by 0.05 percent, and regulated prices by 0.10 percent. Indirect taxes have not affected headline inflation. Food prices influenced core inflation by -0.05 percent and net inflation has not influenced core inflation, according to the Statistics Office.

“In general, the economy is in deflation,” Home Credit analyst Michal Kozub told the TASR newswire on the same day. “The prices have not increased annually in a single month in 2014.”

While average prices are decreasing the price changes of particular commodities vary. The most significant decreases are visible in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages. On the other hand, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, clothes and shoes increase, according to him.

Nevertheless, the prices are relatively stable and deflation or zero inflation will probably continue, Kozub told the TASR.
