THE ATTITUDE of the members of the ruling New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) party towards their chairman, Pavol Rusko, is unclear.

Rusko is facing a possible recall from his post because of unexplained financial operations during his tenure as Economy Minister. The Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), a ruling coalition partner, wants Rusko removed from office.

The ANO board will meet August 22 to hear Rusko’s side of the story. The ANO members have not said what they would do if Rusko is removed from the government, the SME daily reported.

"I see no reason to speculate what will happen. Many times before the coalition has faced an earthquake, but the cabinet has been functioning despite that for three years now," ANO MP Jozef Heriban told SME.

Rusko explain himself before his ruling partners at an August 23 coalition board meeting. The KDH demands that Rusko be removed since he has had three weeks to explain the affair already. The other coalition members are willing to give Rusko one more chance.
