DESIGNER luxury is on offer to Slovak customers for just a few hundred crowns with the launch of the country's first designer handbag-rental business in Bratislava, according to a report in the Nový Čas daily.
The kind of luxury handbags seen on the arms of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham and Beyonceé, can already be rented in America, France and the Czech Republic.
Slovak women can now borrow them via the internet or by phone, with prices ranging from Sk700 (€22) to Sk4,400 (€135). The service includes delivery by courier.
"After being returned, the handbag passes into the hands of an expert, who tends it," the owner of the rental, Tomáš Rosputinský, told the daily. If the client damages the handbag of loses it, he/she must pay for it. "It is impossible to acquire the originals of these handbags in Slovakia. We bought them in Milan, London, Vienna, and Florence," Rosputinský added.
The Bratislava business has 21 handbags in its stable, carrying the exclusive labels of four brands: Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada, and plans to extend the range. The most expensive bauble, worth Sk44,000 (€1,350), can be "yours" for one month for Sk4,400 (€135).
