The last Yak plane leaves the aircraft fleet

The plane will land at the museum in Žilina.

The last Yak-40 plane left the aircraft fleet of the Interior Ministry on May 31.

The plane will now be exhibited at the Žilina University’s Department of Air Transport and used as teaching equipment, the TASR newswire reported.

The Yak-40 OM BYL has a capacity of 16 passengers and can achieve a flight speed of 470 km/h. It has flown 6,722 hours and experienced 7,409 landings.

Its longest flight, from Dublin to Bratislava, took 4:20 hours, while the longest route, including stopovers, was 6,690 kilometres (Bratislava-Ankara-Bagdad-Ankara-Bratislava).

The plane has transported nearly 67,000 people, including Japanese Fumihito, Prince Akishino, TASR reported.
