THE RULING Slovak National Party (SNS) wants to sue the Hungarian Coalition Party's (SMK) Miklós Duray over his recent statements on the Hungarian radio Inforadis, where he said that "one third of the new Slovak government consists of [Ján] Slota's party, which is a fascist party".
Duray thinks that along with the new government the attitude towards the Hungarian minority in Slovakia has changed as well.
The SNS's Rafael Rafaj stated that by attacking the SNS, Duray "has intentionally damaged the Slovak Republic", SME wrote.
According to Rafaj the SNS "faces systematic political media pressure, in the background of which are Hungarian irredentists and its foreign lobbyists".
Slota himself recently said that the SMK should be banned and his statements about Hungarians have even outraged Hungary's Foreign Affairs Minister Kinga Goncz.
The Deputy PM for Human Rights and Minorities Dušan Čaplovič agrees that Duray has damaged Slovakia's image abroad with his recent statement.
Čaplovič also said that he disagrees with the vocabulary of Slota and that in his opinion both Slota and Duray cause tension in Slovak-Hungarian relations.
