Third block of Mochovce power plant to be launched in 3Q16

The third block of the Mochovce nuclear power plant will be launched in the third quarter of 2016, and the fourth in 2017, energy utility Slovenské elektrárne (SE) General Director Luca D’Agnese said at the construction site in Mochovce (Nitra region) on October 7. “The third block is complete up to around 80 percent,” said D’Agnese, as quoted by the TASR newswire. Further possible delays in the completion of the nuclear power plant will depend on the approval of SE’s new budget by company shareholders, noted the SE general director. “If the budget is approved, 2016 as the date of completion is a good estimate,” said D’Agnese, adding that both the majority owner Enel (66 percent) and the state of Slovakia (34 percent) must okay the budget. D’Agnese did not specify the amount needed to complete the blocks and stressed that the completion of the nuclear power plant is not related to the planned sale of Enel’s shares.
