NEW competition for incumbent mobile operators T-Mobile and Orange is coming to Slovakia after all, the SME daily wrote.
Although former Telecom Minister Gabriel Palacka cancelled a tender for a third mobile operator in 1999, operators are still interested in the Slovak market, the daily wrote. On Monday, the Telecom Ministry is to discuss a recommendation that the telecom authority, the Telekomunikačný úrad, announce a tender for the existing frequencies.
The ministry's Anton Smitka said that several European operators had expressed major interest in the Slovak market. Although he did not specify the names of the operators, it is likely that Vodafone, TIM, and Telefonica Moviles are among them, the daily wrote.
