Three former Slovak MPs - Marcela Pčolinská, Mária Majdová and Alojz Rakús – left the Christian Democrats (KDH) to join the new party Conservative Democrats of Slovakia (KDS), KDS head Vladimír Palko told the TASR.
"Their leaving is a demonstration of the dissatisfaction with the direction of KDH after the 2006 parliamentary election. Another cause of the departure is that they want to support the presidential candidacy of František Mikloško, who represents the Christian and conservative forces in Slovakia," Palko said.
Marcela Pčolinská, 55, was an MP from 2002-2006, working in the human rights and minorities committee, as well as in the Committee for European Integration. Mária Majdová, 35, was also an MP from 2002-2006. She worked in the health care committee, as well as the defence and security committee. Dr. Alojz Rakús, 61, was an MP from 1998-2002. A psychiatrist, Rakús was minister of health from 1990-92 (when the former Czechoslovak federation still existed). TASR
