Two armed forces helicopters and one helicopter from the Interior Ministry are fighting the fire from the air. Poprad fire fighters are also getting help from colleagues from the towns of Kežmarok, Levoča and Humenné, with 86 fire fighters involved in all.

There are twelve fire trucks on site, said Ondrej Šproch, the director of the District Fire-fighters and Rescue Corps in Poprad. The scope of the fire that started on Sunday has remained unchanged, covering an area of 50 to 80 hectares. It is expected that the fire fighters will manage to bring the fire under control on November 29 if there are no problems with weather or mishaps, Šproch told the TASR newswire.
