Three critics of former justice minister Štefan Harabin have returned to their posts after they passed the selection procedures and current Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská re-appointed them, the TASR newswire reported.
Darina Kuchtová, Milan Růžička and Róbert Urban were dismissed in 2006, right after Harabin was appointed to his post as justice minister. They all faced disciplinary proceedings and had to leave their functions as the chairs of courts.
Bratislava district court chair Kuchtová was accused by Harabin of breaking the law by testifying against the former head of the Žilina district court, Pavol Polka, in a case in which editors from Moment weekly were accused of slander. Polka filed a lawsuit against the editors after they published information about errors in the way the court was run.
Milan Růžička, the chair of the district court in Veľký Krtíš, was held responsible during Harabin’s tenure for causing a seven-year delay in court proceedings.
The chair of the district court in Žilina, Róbert Urban, faced disciplinary procedures for allegedly falsifying court minutes.
