THE SLOVAK cabinet approved a concept for the development of tourism in Slovakia yesterday, which for the first time includes specific tasks to help the sector, the Pravda daily reported.
The new plan lists 35 specific tasks, including for instance the creation of a national information system for tourism, increasing the volume of state funds for the promotion of Slovakia abroad, preparing an analysis of what motivates holidaymakers to come to Slovakia, and targeting tourism marketing towards EU states.
Foreign currency income from tourism should grow to 3 percent of GDP. Another goal is for 4.4 percent of working people to be employed in the sector.
