“We are continuing to prepare the exhibition due to the fact that we don’t know the exact date when the Old Town Hall will be renovated. It should have been finished and available for use this September,” MMB head Peter Hyross told the TASR newswire. The renovation of the town hall, considered a historical gem, began in 2008. The work has been interrupted due to lack of money, with more than €12 million extra being needed after several appendices were added to the original contract. The contractor, Hílek a.s., has completed work worth more than €10 million, but €3.8 million in unpaid invoices are said to be outstanding. The interruption of work will increase the financial costs even more, so it is crucial to finish the building as soon as possible, Jozef Hrabina, head of Paming, the company overseeing the work for the city, told TASR.
