SLOVAKIA'S balance of trade deficit for October was Sk1.998 billion (€51.23 million), down from the Sk3.1 billion (€80 million) posted for September, the Statistical Office reported December 10. The deficit for the first ten months to October amounted to 26.1 billion (€650 million).
Exports for the same period stood at Sk742 billion (€18.58 billion), up by 12.8 percent on the year. Imports totalled Sk768 billion (€19.23 billion), a rise of 13.6 percent year-on-year.
The Office also published revised trade figures for the period January-September, reducing the deficit from Sk28.8 billion (€720 million) to Sk24.1 billion (€600 million). According to these results, exports and imports in September rose year-on-year by 10.8 and 12.2 percent respectively.
