Slovakia’s trade deficit at the end of November 2001 was Sk87.2 billion, bringing the current account balance deficit to Sk72.9 billion; the latter figure represented a Sk52 billion increase from November 2000. The rise has been blamed on higher crude oil prices and increased technology imports to support record foreign investment.
