Slovakia’s electronic road-toll operator SkyToll and the transport operators association CESMAD are holding talks on reducing the price of installing road-toll onboard units (OBU) in trucks on December 29, the spokeman for the Transport, Posts and Telecommunication Ministry, Stanislav Jurikovič, told TASR.
“This price (€134.90 without VAT) is, in my opinion, exaggerated,” said Transport Minister Ľubomír Vážny last week. The installation of the OBUs is being carried out by CESMAD Slovakia, which won a related tender and Vážny expects CESMAD and SkyToll to find a way of cutting the price at their meeting on Tuesday.
Some 150 Slovak transport companies have called on the Transport Ministry to postpone the launch of the electronic road-toll system from January 1 to July 2010, Jaroslav Poláček from the Fura company told TASR at a meeting of transport companies in Zvolen on December 28.
“We'd like to put off the introduction of the electronic road-toll system to July 1, 2010, as the system is not ready yet,” said Poláček. The transport companies have also asked for a meeting with Vážny on December 30. TASR
