The Transport, Construction and Regional Development Ministry and the Slovak Road Hauliers Association (UNAS) signed an agreement on cooperation that seeks to create a favourable business environment in the sphere of road transport, the TASR newswire was told by the ministry’s spokesman Ľubomír Tuchscher on February 18.
The content of the agreement is the same as an agreement signed between the ministry and the ČESMAD truckers’ organisation.
"UNAS in this way is becoming an equal partner with the Transport Ministry, as is the case of ČESMAD," said Tuchscher.
The ministry stated that it has been working actively on improving the electronic road-toll system and it has established a commission made up of representatives of the ministry, ČESMAD, UNAS (which represents independent truckers), the National Highway Company, toll police and SkyToll, the company which operates the system.
UNAS members have decided not to organise a strike against problems surrounding the electronic toll system, its representatives said on February 18 after signing the agreement.
