POLICE are waiting to speak to Dobroslav Trnka, the former general prosecutor and current deputy prosecutor, over suspicions of abuse of power by a public official. In a letter acquired by the Sme daily, which was sent to one of the parties in a legal dispute over the Glance House apartment building in Bernolákovo, near Bratislava, Trnka consented to its transfer even though he is not entitled to issue such a decision by law.
The cadastral office in Senec allowed the transfer of the building on the basis of the letter, though the office of the special prosecutor barred the subject from doing anything with the site.
“The cadastral office definitely cannot overturn the decision of the [special] prosecutor based on this letter,” said Lucia Kurilovská from the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, as quoted by Sme.
Another suspect in the case is head of the Senec cadastral office, Igor Svitek. Moreover, the apartment house seems likely to end up in the hands of people with close ties to business tycoon Marián Kočner, who is on friendly terms with Trnka, Sme wrote.
After the daily reported in the case, the Office of the General Prosecutor withdrew the file pertaining to the case from the cadastral office, but the police retained possession of a copy.
