SLOVAK football player Filip Hološko grew so close to the hearts of an Istanbul-based family that they decided to name their son after the family name of the striker of the Besiktas football club.
“In the training centre, I was told recently to go to the door, as someone came to visit me,” Hološko told the TASR newswire in mid March. “Having no idea who that could be, I left, nevertheless, and after I found out details, I was at a loss, a bit. I didn’t expect it”. The striker, aged 30, who also plays in the Slovak national team, smiles at the notion that his surname has become the boy’s first name.
“Both parents came with their son. They told me they were loyal and dedicated fans of Besiktas, following closely our every match, and especially my performances. They named him after me because by the time he was born, I scored the last goal at our old stadium. This happened in May 2013, and the father, who attended this match, decided on the name,” Hološko wrote for his representing company, FSagency. The Slovak footballer took photos with the 6-month-old Holosko, and promised his family they would be his guests whenever they come to a match.
