CHAIRMAN of the Bardejov District Court Karola Krochta could be stripped of his criminal immunity and prosecuted by the police for causing bodily harm and disorderly conduct.
Krochta is alleged to have gotten into trouble last year, according to the private TV channel Markíza, though no details have been revealed.
By the end of last year, General Prosecutor Jaromír Čižnár took steps toward opening the case. “Last December, the general prosecutor filed a written request for approval to prosecute Karol K., spokesperson of the General Prosecutor’s Office Andrea Predajňová said, as quoted by the TASR newswire. The judge himself refused to comment on the case.
Markíza also stressed that Krochta can be stripped off his immunity only by the Constitutional Court – where his sister Katarína Krochtová works as an advisor. The Constitutional Court, however, denied that this connection would have any influence on whether or not it decides to strip Krochta’s immunity. The Constitutional Court is to decide on the matter on February 26, the SITA newswire wrote.
