A Slovak TV station has reported a family connection between senior staff members of Slovakia’s Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ) and the Slovak Tax Directorate, which is to be the subject of an NKÚ audit.

Head of the Department of Legal Services at the Tax Directorate Anna Jasovská is the wife of NKÚ boss Ján Jasovský, TV Markíza reported. According to its tvnoviny.sk website, the connection raises doubts because the NKÚ has been tasked with checking how a controversial rental contract was agreed between the Tax Directorate, led by Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) appointee Miroslav Mikulčík, and Nitra Invest, a company owned by SDKÚ Nitra regional head Ondrej Ščurka.
