Two candidates are interested in the post of an additional judge of the General Court of the EU: Ján Mazák, who currently acts as advisor to President Andrej Kiska, and Ivan Ruman.
The former’s candidacy has been proposed by members of the Judicial Council Ján Kľučka and Milan Ďurica, while the latter’s candidacy was submitted by the Slovak Bar Association, the SITA newswire reported.
The Judicial Council will vote on the Slovak candidate for an additional judge on June 27. According to the documents on the vote Slovakia received, it was expected that it will nominate a woman.

The Judicial Council needed to find a new candidate after the General Court of the European Court’s committee had rejected Slovak candidate Mária Patakyová due to her lack of knowledge of French.
The current representative of Slovakia at the court is Juraj Schwarcz who he has been in the post since 2009.
