A 42-year-old man infected with A(H1N1) flu died in Myjava Hospital in Trenčín region on December 6, the TASR newswire was told by the senior consultant of the hospital’s anaesthetics and intensive care unit, Jaroslav Zongora. The man was admitted to hospital with double pneumonia on November 23.
Tests confirmed the presence of the flu virus in his blood. According to Myjava Hospital director Jozef Markovič, the man was treated with anti-viral medicines as well as a wide range of antibiotics. Zongora refused to comment on the cause of death at the request of the patient’s family.
A woman who died in a hospital in Veľký Krtíš in Banská Bystrica region was also infected with the novel flu A(H1N1), TASR was told by the hospital's director, Martin Naništa, who added that there is one more female patient with the novel flu hospitalised in serious condition as well.
“The woman died several days ago, but the test results were available only on December 7,” said the director. He didn't give any more information about the woman. Both women are from Veľký Krtíš district. TASR
