Police in Košice have pressed charges against two young men from Hungary for promoting groups that support ideas leading to the suppression of fundamental rights and freedoms.
The two men, aged 19 and 21, were seen wearing extremist symbols in the city's streets on Monday, March 14, following the ceremonial unveiling of a bust of former pro-Hungary Slovak MP János Esterházy (1901-57) which attracted a crowd of around 200 people to a house Esterházy once occupied. Both men were released from custody, the TASR newswire reported, citing Košice Regional Police Directorate spokesperson Jana Demjanovičová. They face up to three years in prison if convicted.
